Hf radio build.

Father's Day present was a 20m hf radio kit.

And now the housing hardware is on order and I am starting to design a tuner for the device...

Proceeding to box it up after the hardware arrived...

It's not easy to cut square holes with a Dremel.

But the power up test blows fuses.  That's odd.   After digging around my irf510 power fet has essentially zero resistance between drain and body and I had grounded it to the frame..

 Insulating washers and now the calibration process...

Now to wait for a microphone to be delivered...

Well apparently also replacing the irf510 that didn't like being shorted to the case.

Aligned and finished.  5 watts of power.

It uses a DS1821 temp sensor.

An inexpensive display, atmega 328p, RTC module and an oscillator.

And what project would be complete without ugly wiring on the back...
